The following measures have been ADDED to the agenda: HB 2008, HB 2109, and HB 2457, HD1.
RELATING TO AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION. Requires the Department of Agriculture to issue a request for proposals to establish, develop, and implement a Hawaii Youth Agricultural Corps program, which provides agricultural education to youth and agricultural workforce development. Appropriation. Effective July 1, 2014. (HB1535 HD1)

RELATING TO AGRICULTURE. Appropriates funds to the Department of Education to operate and implement the Future Farmers of America Program. Effective July 1, 2014.

RELATING TO AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS. Establishes and funds the Fun 5 Program within the A+ Program in Hawaii's public elementary schools. Appropriation. Effective July 1, 2014.

RELATING TO EMERGENCY SHELTERS. Authorizes the issuance of general obligation bonds to fund the retrofitting of public school buildings so they can also be used as emergency shelters.

RELATING TO DENTAL HEALTH. Requires the Department of Health to establish or enter into partnerships or agreements to administer a dental sealant program in a high-need school. Appropriates funds. Effective July 1, 2050. (HB2457 HD1)

RELATING TO HAWAIIAN LANGUAGE IMMERSION. Establishes a task force within the Department of Education to locate potential, viable properties along the Waianae coast, with a preference for a location in Nanakuli, on which to establish a Hawaiian language immersion school to educate students from kindergarten through grade twelve.

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. Testimony should indicate:
· Testifier's name with position/title and organization;
· The Committee(s) to which the comments are directed;
· The date and time of the hearing; and
· Measure number.
While every effort will be made to incorporate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

If submitting written testimony at the hearing: please bring 15 copies for EDN committee members and staff.
Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website. This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
