     Your Committees on Ocean, Marine Resources, & Hawaiian Affairs and Water & Land, to which was referred H.B. No. 2101 entitled:

 

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE KAHO‘OLAWE ISLAND RESERVE,"

 

beg leave to report as follows:

 

     The purpose of this measure is to authorize a portion of state conveyance tax revenues to be paid into the Kahoolawe Rehabilitation Trust Fund to replenish the Fund, which is used for the long-term rehabilitation of Kahoolawe and maintenance of the Kahoolawe Island Reserve.

 

     The Kahoolawe Island Reserve Commission and a few individuals provided testimony in support of this measure.  The Tax Foundation of Hawaii provided comments on this measure.

 

     As affirmed by the records of votes of the members of your Committees on Ocean, Marine Resources, & Hawaiian Affairs and Water & Land that are attached to this report, your Committees are in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 2101 and recommend that it pass Second Reading and be referred to the Committee on Finance.
