     Your Committee on Judiciary, to which was referred H.B. No. 1858 entitled:

 

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE PENAL CODE,"

 

begs leave to report as follows:

 

     The purpose of this measure is to make intentionally or knowingly causing bodily injury to a liquor commission investigator engaged in the performance of duty punishable as assault in the second degree.

 

     The Liquor Commission of the City and County of Honolulu, Office of the Prosecuting Attorney of the County of Kauai, Department of Liquor Control of the County of Kauai, Hawaii Government Employees Association AFSCME Local 152 AFL-CIO, and a concerned individual testified in support of this measure.  The Office of the Public Defender testified in opposition to this measure

 

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Judiciary that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 1858 and recommends that it pass Second Reading and be placed on the calendar for Third Reading.
