A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO HOUSING.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $          or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2013-2014 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2014-2015 for the state rent supplement program, for working individuals or families who are ready to rent permanent housing to obtain and maintain permanent housing; provided that:

(1)  The maximum rent supplement shall be $300 per month per household; and

(2)  No individual or family who receives public assistance or other government benefits or entitlements shall qualify to receive moneys appropriated under this Act.

     The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of human services for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 2.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2050.

Description:

Appropriates funds for the State Rent Supplement Program for working individuals or families who are ready to rent permanent housing to obtain and maintain permanent housing, subject to certain conditions.  Specifies that the maximum rent supplement is $300 per month per household.  Effective July 1, 2050.  (SB91 HD1)
