A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO SPECIALTY CONTRACTORS.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Section 444-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (d) to read as follows:

     "(d)  A specialty contractor is a contractor whose principal contracting business involves the use of specialized building trades or crafts and whose primary operations as such are the performance of construction work requiring special skill such as, but not limited to, electrical, drywall, painting and decorating, landscaping, flooring, carpet laying by any installation method, plumbing, or roofing work[, and others whose principal contracting business involves the use of specialized building trades or crafts]."

     SECTION 2.  Section 444-8, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (c) to read as follows:

     "(c)  This section shall not prohibit a specialty contractor as defined in section 444-7(d) from taking and executing a contract involving the use of two or more crafts or trades, if the performance of the work in the crafts or trades, other than in which the specialty contractor is licensed, is incidental and supplemental to the performance of work in the craft for which the specialty contractor is licensed."

     SECTION 2.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
