A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to head injuries.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 321, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§321-    Head injuries.  Any person diagnosed with a concussion shall not engage in contact sports for thirty days.  Any person diagnosed with a concussion shall be cleared by a licensed physician prior to playing contact sports following the thirty-day waiting period.  For the purposes of this section, the term "contact sports" means a sport that involves physical contact between players as part of normal play."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
