A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to renewable energy.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 196, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§196- Wiring for an electric vehicle charging system required for new single-family residential construction. (a) Beginning January 1, 2016, no building permit shall be issued for a new single-family dwelling that does not include wiring for an electric vehicle charging system, as defined in section 196-7.5, that provides level two charging, or two-hundred forty volt alternating current charging.
(b) Nothing in this section shall preclude any county from establishing procedures and standards required to implement this section."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2014.
