HOUSE RESOLUTION

commending the waianae coast comprehensive health center for its commitment to the health and well-being of the people of the state of hawaii.

     WHEREAS, the WAIANAE COAST COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CENTER was founded in 1972 after the Waianae Sugar Mill closed, leaving Waianae Coast residents in dire need of health facilities on the west side of Oahu; and

WHEREAS, the WAIANAE COAST COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CENTER has since been serving the needs of the community for over four decades while keeping its founding vision at heart: to address health disparities, improve population health, and reduce health inequalities despite financial and cultural barriers; and

WHEREAS, in keeping with these guiding principles, the WAIANAE COAST COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CENTER has worked to provide accessible, quality, affordable, and comprehensive health care while preserving native Hawaiian culture and traditions in order to achieve complete wellness; and

WHEREAS, along with its main campus, the WAIANAE COAST COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CENTER has four satellite clinics where it provides patient care, and is one of the only federally-qualified health centers in the country with a 24-hour emergency room; and

WHEREAS, with specialties such as primary care, pediatrics, dentistry, behavioral health, orthopedic surgery, podiatry, pain management, dermatology, and other essential services, the WAIANAE COAST COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CENTER has gone above and beyond to meet the many needs of its community; and

WHEREAS, the WAIANAE COAST COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CENTER has grown with the needs of its patients in mind and with clinicians whose relationships with the people have always been of utmost importance; and

WHEREAS, the WAIANAE COAST COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CENTER has truly exemplified the spirit of aloha through the wholehearted and dedicated services it provides; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-seventh Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2014, that this body hereby honors and recognizes the WAIANAE COAST COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CENTER for its commitment to the health and well-being of the people of the State of Hawaii.
