HOUSE RESOLUTION
Commending, HONORING, AND CONGRATULATING shane victorino for a decade of baseball excellence, ACCOMPLISHED COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP, and for selflessly giving back to the community through the shane victorino foundation.
Whereas, the people of Hawaii have always cherished and admired those individuals who have achieved great success and subsequently have taken it upon themselves to enrich their communities and improve the lives of those within it; and
Whereas, Shane Victorino, from Wailuku, Maui is an exemplary role model with numerous outstanding athletic accomplishments, which include being a two-time major league all-star, two-time world-series champion, four-time golden glove recipient, Lou Gehrig Memorial Award recipient, and Branch Rickey Award recipient; and
Whereas, Shane Victorino's talent and dedication propelled him far beyond the shores of Hawaii, and with the extraordinary success he has achieved both as an athlete and a philanthropist, he has truly become a great ambassador for the State of Hawaii and its people; and
Whereas, Shane Victorino and his wife, Melissa, created The Shane Victorino Foundation, which is committed to community outreach and support for underserved youth in communities across the country; and
WHEREAS, Shane Victorino has selflessly dedicated his financial resources, time, talents, energy, and enthusiasm to engaging the youth of our country in a positive manner and giving them the foundation needed to develop and achieve their own success in life; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-seventh Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2014, that this body hereby commends the "Flyin' Hawaiian", Shane Victorino, for a decade of baseball excellence and for selflessly giving back to the community through The Shane Victorino Foundation, honors and congratulates him for his accomplishments as a baseball standout as well as an influential community leader, and extends to him its best wishes for another successful season.
