A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of the forty-ninth representative district.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2014-2015.
1. To be expended by the department of education:
A. James B. Castle high school, Oahu
Plans and design for the expansion of cafeteria; ground and site improvements; and equipment and appurtenances.

B. James B. Castle high school, Oahu
Plans and design for the retrofitting and modernization of building R to accommodate a new technology/STEM center, industrial arts, and ceramics; site and ground improvements; and equipment.

C. Kaneohe elementary school, Oahu
Expansion of the lower parking lot (displacing existing play courts)and the design and construction of covered play courts.

Audio-visual upgrades and acoustical treatment in the cafeteria.

2. To be expended by the department of defense:
A. Hawaii state veterans cemetery, Oahu
Construction of 2,190 double depth lawn crypts, construction of roof covering committal shelter, installation of security cameras and monitors for surveillance, and installation of irrigation system throughout the cemetery (matching state funds to qualify for $5,854,000 federal grant).

3. To be expended by the department of land and natural resources:
A. Maunawili trails visitor parking, Oahu
Plans and design for the construction of a parking area for hikers going to the Maunawili trail.

SECTION 2. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2014.
