The Hawaii House of Representatives has passed HB3 HD1, of the 2013 Second Special Sessoin, which will provide $7.3 million in emergency funding to sustain the operations of the Kauai regional health care system. Without this funding, Kauai's two hospitals operated by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) would have run out of money in January 2014, forcing them to close down - placing the health care of Kauai's residents and visitors in jeopardy.

Senate Vice President Ronald D. Kouchi welcomes Seoul Metropolitan Council Chair Kim Myung Soo
Senate Vice President Ronald D. Kouchi, (District 8 -Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau) on behalf of Senate President Donna Mercado Kim, met with the Seoul Metropolitan Council to discuss the continuation and support of both cities' sister relationship last week. The Council also attended a Senate Legislative Session.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Honolulu-Seoul relationship. The sister-city relationship was established to promote international good will and understanding.
This year is also the 110th anniversary of the Korean Immigration to the United States.
