The purpose of this informational briefing is to discuss the Economic Impact of the Armed Forces in Hawaii and the budgetary concerns impacted by the federal the fiscal cliff.
Charles Ota from the Military Affairs Council of the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii has been invited to speak on the Impact of the United States National Security Strategy on Hawaii and Its Economy, to include: (1) Hawaii – Historically A Strategic Forward Operating Base; (2) Impacts of Defense Presence – Economic and Social; and (3) Challenges Ahead § Legislative and Community § United States Defense Budgetary Woes § Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) and Force Realignments
The following individuals, or their representatives, have been invited to participate : Admiral Samuel Locklear, United States Pacific Command Admiral Cecil Haney, United States Pacific Fleet Lieutenant General Terry Robling, United States Marine Forces Pacific Lieutenant General Francis Wiercinski, United States Army Pacific General Herbert Carlisle, United States Pacific Air Forces Rear Admiral Charles Ray, United States Coast Guard, District Fourteenth Major General Darryll Wong, Hawaii State Department of Defense

The Committees will also discuss the impact of sequestration with the following invited defense contractors, or their representative, who will be affected by the series of major budget cuts: Alan Hayashi, BAE Bill Ryzewic, BAE Shipyard Ben Nakaoka, Navatek
