RELATING TO THE REENTRY COMMISSION.

Replaces the Reentry Coordinator with the Director of Public Safety as an ex officio nonvoting member of the Reentry Commission.

RELATING TO THE POWER OF ARREST.

Permits officers of the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Protective Service to make arrests for certain offenses under state law when the offense occurs on or immediately adjacent to property owned or possessed by the United States government.

RELATING TO PUBLIC SAFETY.

Permits eligible non-violent female offenders to be paroled into structured community placement programs monitored by private organizations.

RELATING TO THE MAXIMUM AGE FOR COMMITMENT TO A YOUTH CORRECTIONAL FACILITY.

Eliminates the incarceration of eighteen year olds in a youth correctional facility.

RELATING TO COURT ORDERS TO PROVIDE MEDICAL TREATMENT FOR INMATES AND DETAINEES IN CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES.

Provides for the filing of a petition for involuntary medical treatment in either the district or circuit court; allows for a declaration to be filed with the petition as an alternative to an affidavit; expands the court's ability to continue the hearing on the petition for good cause; gives the court more flexibility in deciding when a guardian ad litem is necessary; changes the time requirement for filing for a court order for medical treatment from a period of within two days of an examination of the person to within five days; redefines the persons who must be notified of the petition; and clarifies the effective expiration date of the order for persons who return to custody after release.

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO COMMITTED PERSONS ON FURLOUGH.

Adds child support payments as obligations for inmates on furlough who are employed and delineates percentage of earnings that shall be deducted to satisfy outstanding orders regarding restitution, crime victim compensation, other fees and fines, and child support and reimbursement to the State for the cost of room and board.

RELATING TO INTAKE SERVICE CENTERS.

Provides pretrial bail reports to the courts on adult offenders that are consented to by the defendant or that are ordered by the court and amends the law to provide statutory authority to the courts to treat information contained in the pretrial bail reports as confidential.
