The purpose of this informational briefing is for the Department of Education to provide an overview of its progress and efforts on student learning time in accordance with Act 52 (SLH 2011) and Act 167 (SLH 2010). The presentation will include an update of the department's implementation of minimum student instructional hours for elementary schools and its findings, research and recommended next steps toward implementation of minimum student instructional hours for secondary schools. The National Center on Time & Learning (NCTL) will provide a national overview of policies and practices across the country related to student learning time.
