RELATING TO ENFORCEMENT TOOLS TO IMPROVE PATIENT SAFETY.

Authorizes the Hawaii Medical Board to summarily suspend a license and order a licensee to submit to a physical and mental examination under specific circumstances.  Specifies immunities for licensees who provide certain information to the board.  Effective July 1, 2050.  (HB847 HD2)

RELATING TO BUSINESS.

For unlicensed activity offenses pertaining to professional, vocational, and contractors licenses, excepts from criminal liability a licensee who corrects, with no lapse in licensure, the inadvertent failure to maintain licensing requirements.  Effective January 1, 2100.  (HB1202 HD1)

RELATING TO HEALTH INSURANCE.

For consistency with federal affordable health care law, etc., defines "small employer" in Hawaii insurance code to consist of employers with 50 employees or less; applies producer licensing law requirements to producers selling health maintenance organization and mutual benefit society insurance products.  Effective July 1, 2050.  (HB848 HD2)

RELATING TO ELECTRIC COOPERATIVES.

Directs the Public Utilities Commission and the Division of Consumer Advocacy to consider the ownership structure and interests of an electric cooperative in determining appropriate regulations.  Authorizes the PUC to waive or exempt an electric cooperative from certain regulations.  (HB815 HD2)

RELATING TO INSURANCE.

Clarifies when a risk retention group is allowed to qualify for credit for reinsurance.  Effective July 1, 2013.  (HB999 HD2)
