A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO NORTH HAWAII COMMUNITY HOSPITAL.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The legislature finds that the State is facing a severe shortage of healthcare providers. This situation is particularly acute in primary care where most of the prevention, early intervention, and cost savings in healthcare occur.
North Hawaii Community Hospital is a private, non-profit community hospital that serves more than 30,000 residents in North Hawaii and provides primary care as well as a number of other types of patient-centered services.
The purpose of this Act is to appropriate moneys as a grant pursuant to chapter 42F, Hawaii Revised Statutes, to support the continued services of North Hawaii Community Hospital.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $2,000,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2013-2014 as a grant pursuant to chapter 42F, Hawaii Revised Statutes, for North Hawaii Community Hospital.
The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of health for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on January 1, 2030.
