HOUSE RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING WAIANAE HIGH SCHOOL'S SEARIDER DIGITAL TEAM FOR RECEIVING THE APPLE DISTINGUISHED PROGRAM DESIGNATION.
WHEREAS, the people of Hawaii take great pride in recognizing and honoring the notable achievements and contributions of those who, through their extraordinary dedication and personal efforts, have significantly improved the community at large; and
WHEREAS, the Apple Distinguished Program designation is reserved for programs that are recognized centers of educational excellence and leadership and the selection of the WAIANAE HIGH SCHOOL SEARIDER DIGITAL TEAM highlights its successes in enhancing and extending teaching and learning with thoughtful, innovative implementations of technology; and
WHEREAS, Searider Digital dedicates itself to pushing the envelope on what students can learn and ultimately create through the optimal use of technology and by spearheading a movement toward incorporating the use of online learning options such as Odyssey Learning, allowing Searider Digital students to take high school courses online; and
WHEREAS, students of Searider Digital are well equipped to succeed in institutions of higher learning with many college systems moving toward more online courses and increasing their scope through distance learning; of the 18 graduates from 2011-2012, all are currently enrolled in college; and
WHEREAS, the WAIANAE HIGH SCHOOL SEARIDER DIGITAL TEAM has had the opportunity to work on projects for private, public and non-profit organizations including the new Disney "Aulani" hotel, Hawaii Institute for Public Affairs, Hawaiian Electric, Honolulu's rail project, and the Hawaii State Department of Education to name a few; and
WHEREAS, Searider Digital prepares students intellectually and socially for success in school, work and life in today's global society by combining elements of cultural outreach and enhanced instruction that involve students in practical, real-world learning situations and hands-on enterprise, as exemplified by the success of the WAIANAE HIGH SCHOOL SEARIDER DIGITAL TEAM; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-seventh Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2013, that this body hereby commends and applauds the outstanding work of the WAIANAE HIGH SCHOOL SEARIDER DIGITAL TEAM, and extends its warmest aloha and sincere best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
