A BILL FOR AN ACT

RELATING TO EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that with the relocation of Honolulu fire department engine twenty-four, which services Ewa Beach, its response times to certain areas may be lengthened.  The legislature also finds that the prior location of engine twenty-four is ideal for an ambulance service.  By triangulating first responders and emergency medical services, the Ewa Beach area will realize improved access to emergency medical care and ambulance services.

The purpose of this Act is to appropriate general funds to the department of health to demolish the Ewa Beach fire facility and construct an energy-efficient and environmentally-sustainable emergency medical services facility at the same location.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $         or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2013-2014 for the demolition of the Ewa Beach fire station on TMK 9-1-025-062 and the construction of an energy-efficient and environmentally-sustainable emergency medical services facility at the same location.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of health for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2050.
