RELATING TO FOOD SELF-SUFFICIENCY.

Creates a new chapter in the Hawaii Revised Statutes requiring the department of agriculture to develop a food sustainability standard to promote local food production to help diversify the local economy.  Effective July 1, 2030.  (SD1)

RELATING TO CHILDREN AND YOUTH.

Authorizes public events celebrating Children and Youth Day to be held on State Capitol grounds on the first Sunday in October and public events, such as the Children and Youth Summit, to be held on State Capitol grounds in the month of October, if the Children and Youth Day planning committee so chooses, unless otherwise determined by the governor.  (SD1)

RELATING TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION.

Requires independent medical examinations and permanent impairment rating examinations for workers' compensation claims to be performed by physicians mutually agreed upon by employers and employees or appointed by the director of the department of labor and industrial relations.  Allows for the use of an out-of-state physician under certain conditions.  Appropriates unspecified funds.  Effective 10/1/12.  Section 3 effective 7/1/12.  Repeals on 6/30/2017.  (SD1)

RELATING TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION.

Increases the fee schedule of compensation for medical care, services, and supplies in workers' compensation cases from 110 percent to 130 percent of the Medicare Resource Based Relative Value Scale applicable to Hawaii as prepared by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.  Does not apply to reimbursement rates for motor vehicle insurance benefits.  Effective July 1, 2112.  (SD1)

RELATING TO NATIVE HAWAIIANS.

Establishes the aha moku advisory committee within OHA.  Establishes a quorum requirement for island burial councils.  Makes an appropriation.  (SD1)

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO PUBLIC WORKS.

Establishes the Wage and Hour for Public Works Projects Special Fund and establishes and funds additional labor law enforcement specialist IV positions to assist the enforcement of Hawaii's wage and hour law on public construction projects.  Specifies a funding mechanism for the special fund and requires an annual report.  Exempts the Department of Transportation's Airports Division from the special fund fee.  Effective July 1, 2030.  (HB2766 HD2)
