RELATING TO TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS.

Requires any nonresident owner who operates a transient accommodation located in the nonresident owner's private residence, including an apartment, unit, or townhouse, to employ a property manager approved by the real estate commission.

RELATING TO THE TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS TAX.

Provides for the allocation of transient accommodations tax revenues to the convention center enterprise special fund on a fiscal year basis.

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE HAWAII TOURISM AUTHORITY.

Appropriates $2,000,000 for the Hawaii tourism authority for fiscal year 2012-2013 for initiatives to take advantage of expanded visa programs and increased travel opportunities for international visitors to Hawaii.

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO THE TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS TAX.

Clarifies that the daily $10 tax on a transient accommodation furnished on a complimentary or gratuitous basis includes transient accommodations furnished without tangible industry development or promotional purposes, but does not include transient accommodations furnished as part of a tourism industry promotional or marketing activity.
