THE FOLLOWING INFORMATIONAL BRIEFING HAS BEEN CANCELLED
The State of Hawaii has annually proposed legislation to
legalize gambling, for the purposes of allowing its population to participate
in gambling and to capture much-needed revenue to maintain essential government
services. In light of the adverse impacts associated with the current economic
downturn—the State Legislature finds it prudent to study the idea of legalizing
gambling within the state.
The purpose of this briefing is to provide the State
Legislature an opportunity to discuss with gambling experts the issue of
legalized gambling in the State of Hawaii.
FOR AMENDED NOTICES: Measures that have been deleted are stricken through and measures that have been added are underscored. If a measure is both underscored and stricken through, that measure has been deleted from the agenda.
