RELATING TO HEALTH.

Requires employers to provide a minimum amount of paid sick and safe leave to employees to be used to care for themselves or a family member who is ill or a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking.

RELATING TO BREASTFEEDING IN THE WORKPLACE.

Requires an employer with twenty or more employees to make reasonable efforts to provide a clean location for breastfeeding employees to express breast milk in privacy.  Requires covered employers to post a notice pertaining to this provision in a conspicuous location.  Establishes a civil fine for the failure of an employer to provide a location or post notice.

RELATING TO COLLECTIVE BARGAINING.

Clarifies the Hawaii labor relations board's authority to hire attorneys and paralegals.  Authorizes attorneys hired by the board on a part-time or contract basis to represent the board in litigation, draft legal documents for the board, and provide other necessary legal services to the board.

RELATING TO COLLECTIVE BARGAINING.

Creates a new bargaining unit (14) for ocean safety officers and water safety officers employed by the State or counties.

RELATING TO WILDLIFE.

Prohibits the interisland transportation of live game mammals or wild mammals, with certain exceptions; establishes mandatory fines.

RELATING TO BAIL.

Requires law enforcement agencies to accept cash bail, certified copies of pre-filed bail bonds, and original bail bonds when the court is closed, including nights, weekends, and holidays.  Specifies from whom bail may be accepted.  Requires prompt release after acceptance of bail.

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO CAMPAIGN FINANCE.

Authorizes campaign funds to be used to award scholarships to students attending an institution of higher education or vocational education school full time in a program leading to a degree, certificate, or other recognized educational credential; provides that in any election period, the total amount of all scholarships awarded shall be no more than twice the maximum amount that one person may contribute to that candidate pursuant to section 11-357; provides that for scholarship awards only, no awards shall be made from the filing deadline for nomination papers to the date of the general election.
