RELATING TO THE CENTER FOR NURSING. Makes permanent the assessment and deposit of center for nursing fees into the compliance resolution fund and distribution of those funds to the credit of the center for nursing special fund.

RELATING TO THE RESIDENTIAL LANDLORD-TENANT CODE. Exempts from the residential landlord-tenant code residences in structures directly controlled and managed by: (1) The University of Hawaii or any other university or college in the State for the housing of students or faculty; and (2) Certain private dorm management companies that provide housing to students. RELATING TO EDUCATION. Appropriates funds for three permanent positions and operating expenses for Ho‘okulaiwi: ‘Aha Ho‘ona‘auao ‘Oiwi (the center for Native Hawaiian and indigenous education) within the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

RELATING TO THE STADIUM AUTHORITY. Reduces the membership of the Stadium Authority to ten members by removing the Superintendent of Education as an ex officio nonvoting member. Allows the five-year residency requirement for Authority membership to be fulfilled at any time before appointment to the authority. (HB2735 HD1)

DECISION MAKING
The following measure(s) were previously heard on January 31, 2012. No public testimony will be accepted.
RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII. Exempts illegal immigrant students at the UH and community colleges from paying nonresident tuition under certain conditions; allows those students to receive scholarships from nonstate funds and participate in financial aid programs. Requires the board of regents to adopt rules. Limits relief allowed if a court finds any applicable statute unlawful.

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII. Extends eligibility for state financial aid and resident tuition to students of the University of Hawaii without lawful immigration status who meet certain specified criteria.

RELATING TO THE HAWAII SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, AND INNOVATION AGENCY. Establishes the Hawaii Science, Technology, and Innovation Agency through a collaboration between UH Hilo and Hawaii Community College.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW
Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing with a transmittal cover indicating:

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns. This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
