The purpose of this informational briefing is to discuss issues relating to the status of the state building code; divergences between the codes as adopted by the various counties; the extent to which the codes address risks to public safety and health with particular concern for natural disasters and climatic conditions; the operations of the state building code council; the effectiveness of Act 82 SLH 2007 in achieving its purpose; and the extent to which the building code impacts the cost of housing in Hawaii.
No public testimony will be accepted.
