HB1947 was originally heard on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 and deferred for decision-making on Wednesday, February 8, 2012. Due to the insertion of new material in the proposed house draft for HB1947, it has been placed on the agenda to conduct a public hearing and to accept public testimony. Please base your testimony on the contents of the proposed HD1 for HB1947. Copies of the proposed HD1 are available in room 424 and the Legislature's Website http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov

RELATING TO AGRICULTURE. Requires the department of agriculture to establish an agricultural safety and security program. Requires, under the program, the department to conduct audit and certification services that indicate a producer's compliance with generally accepted agricultural and management practices and food security and traceability requirements. Specifies that the program is voluntary for producers. Requires the charge of fees and expenses. Establishes an agricultural practices audit and certification revolving fund for the program.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW
Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing with a transmittal cover indicating:
· Testifier's name with position/title and organization;
· The Committee the comments are directed to;
· The date and time of the hearing;
· Measure number; and
· The number of copies the Committee is requesting.
While every effort will be made to copy, organize, and collate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed to the incorrect office, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

WEB: For comments less than 10MB in size, transmit from http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/submittestimony.aspx.
Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns. This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
