Status

RELATING TO LAND USE.

Repeals the prohibition on agricultural tourism activities in the absence of a bona fide farming operation.  Repeals the prohibition on ordinances that allow overnight accommodations in agricultural districts.  Authorizes agricultural tourism activities, including overnight accommodations of twenty-one days or less, for any one stay within a county; provided that a county has adopted ordinances regulating agricultural tourism.  Effective 7/1/2050.  (SD2)

RELATING TO AGRICULTURAL-BASED COMMERCIAL OPERATIONS.

Defines agricultural-based commercial operations and authorizes agricultural-based commercial operations in agricultural districts.  Includes agricultural-based commercial operations under the definition of "farming operation" in chapter 165, Hawaii Revised Statutes.  Takes effect 7/1/2050.  (SD3)

RELATING TO AGRICULTURE.

Allows moneys in the pest inspection, quarantine, and eradication fund to be expended for the electronic importer manifest program.  Makes an appropriation for the implementation of the electronic importer manifest program.  Effective July 1, 2012.

Status

RELATING TO LIVESTOCK FEED.

Creates a livestock feed feasibility pilot project to investigate the viability of growing and processing livestock feed on land held by the department of agriculture.  Appropriation.  (SD2)

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

 

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing with a transmittal cover indicating:

·     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·     The Committee the comments are directed to;

·     The date and time of the hearing;

·     Measure number; and

·     The number of copies the Committee is requesting.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns.  This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
