A BILL FOR AN ACT

relating to insurance.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

     SECTION 1.  Section 431L-6, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (a) to read as follows:

     "(a)  In any case in which a group health plan provides coverage for dependent children of participants or beneficiaries, the plan shall provide benefits to dependent children placed with participants or beneficiaries for adoption, including natural grandchildren of the participants or beneficiaries that are adopted by or placed for adoption with the participants or beneficiaries, under the same terms and conditions as apply to the natural, dependent children of the participants and beneficiaries, irrespective of whether the adoption has become final."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
