A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to tattoo artists.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 321, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§321- Tattoo trade show; convention; sanitary environment. (a) Qualified licensed tattoo artists may demonstrate their skills at a tattoo trade show, tattoo convention, or other tattoo-related event, subject to the availability of the proper facilities and equipment necessary to perform their skills or work.
(b) The department shall affirm that a professional sanitary environment is available or created at the tattoo trade shows and conventions."
SECTION 2. Section 321-375, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (b) to read as follows:
"(b) The department may contract with [a]
professional testing [service] services to prepare, administer,
and grade the examination for licensure as a tattoo artist[.],
including an out-of-state examination for any applicant for a temporary license
under section 321-374(e)(2). For these purposes, the department may
require applicants or private sponsors to pay the examination fee
directly to the testing service."
SECTION 3. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
