A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of the fifty-first representative district.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2012-2013.

     1.   To be expended by the department of education:

     A.   Kailua high school, Oahu

          Design and construction to upgrade existing tennis/basketball courts, including leveling, resurfacing, restriping, and replacement of posts and baskets.

          Design                                   $25,000

          Construction                            $150,000

          Total funding                           $175,000

     B.   Enchanted Lake elementary school, Oahu

          Upgrade of electrical system for campus buildings.

          Total funding                           $400,000

     C.   Enchanted Lake elementary school, Oahu

          Replacement of carpeting in three classrooms.

          Total funding                             $6,000

     D.   Enchanted Lake elementary school, Oahu

          Shelter coverage for administration classroom rear

          door entrance.

          Total funding                            $20,000

     E.   Enchanted Lake elementary school, Oahu

          Shelter coverage for front and back door of library.

          Total funding                            $40,000

     F.   Lanikai elementary school, Oahu

          Plans, construction, and equipment for an elevator to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards.

          Plans                                    $50,000

          Construction                            $125,000

          Equipment                               $200,000

          Total funding                           $375,000

     G.   Lanikai elementary school, Oahu

          Design, construction, and equipment for a new administration building.

          Equipment and construction for air conditioning.

     I.   Lanikai elementary school, Oahu

     Design and equipment to upgrade the electrical system for campus buildings.

     J.   Keolu elementary school, Oahu

          Construction and equipment for the installation of wiring for a new projector system for the cafeteria.

          Construction                              $7,000

     K.   Waimanalo elementary school, Oahu

          Installation of a covered walkway.

          Total funding                           $800,000

     L.   Waimanalo elementary school, Oahu

          Installation of water fountains.

          Total funding                           $190,000

     M.   Waimanalo elementary school, Oahu

          Upgrade of electrical system for campus buildings.

          Total funding                           $350,000

     2.   To be expended by the department of Hawaiian home lands:

     A.   Waimanalo Hawaiian Homes Association, Oahu

          Fixtures, furniture, equipment, and employment-

          training programs at the Community Technology,

          Employment, and Education Center; roof repair,

          construction of a parking area, and restroom repairs

          at the Waiamanalo Hawaiian Homes Association's old

          clubhouse on Kalanianaole highway; and pre-development

          work for the completion of the business park.

          Total funding                         $1,000,000

     B.   Lower quarry facilities in Waimanalo, Oahu.

          Plans, design, and construction for renovation of the

          lower quarry facilities.

          Total funding                         $1,000,000

     3.   To be expended by the department of transportation:

     A.   Design and construction for a sidewalk on Kalanianaole highway, Oahu.  Installation of a five-foot-wide American with Disabilities Act-compliant sidewalk on the mauka side of Kalanianaole highway, spanning approximately one half-mile from Kumuhau street to the Olomana Golf Course driveway.  Includes relocation of utility poles; the cost of potential conflicts with underground water lines; driveway construction; and installation of a drainage system, curbs, and gutters.

          Construction                          $1,400,000

          Total funding                         $2,100,000

     4.   To be expended by the department of accounting and general services:

     A.   Waimanalo Construction Coalition, Oahu

          Plans, design, and construction of a baseyard for

          heavy machinery.

          Plans                                    $10,000

          Design                                    $40,000

          Construction                            $450,000

          Total funding                           $500,000

     5.   To be expended by the department of land and natural resources:

     A.   Clean up and restoration of Enchanted Lake and                 Kaelepulu Stream.

          Total funding                         $3,000,000

     SECTION 2.  The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agencies for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2012.
