A BILL FOR AN ACT

RELATING TO ELECTRONIC PRESCRIPTION ACCOUNTABILITY SYSTEM.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

     SECTION 1.  Section 329-101, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (a) to read as follows:

     "(a)  A controlled substance electronic accountability prescription system shall be established within six months of June 18, 1996[.]; provided that the requirements of this part shall not apply to veterinarians, as defined in section 471-1."

     SECTION 2.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval; provided that section 1 of this Act shall take effect retroactive to June 18, 1996.
