RELATING TO TAXATION.

Temporarily places a cap on itemized deductions claimed on state income tax returns until January 1, 2016.  Applies to taxable years beginning after December 31, 2010.  Effective retroactive to January 1, 2011.  (HB794 HD1)

RELATING TO INVESTMENTS.

Establishes an Advisory Committee on Short-term Investments administratively attached to the Department of Budget and Finance to assist the Director of Finance in making short-term investments.  Establishes additional requirements in the management of the short-term investments.  Allows for the operation of the short-term investment pool under contract with a private investment advisor or advisors.  Effective July 1, 2112.  (HB1179 HD3)

Extends the date on which the legislative federal economic stimulus program oversight commission is terminated from 06/30/11 to 12/31/11.

RELATING TO THE PROGRESSIVE TAX REFORM TASK FORCE.

Establishes a task force within the Department of Taxation to reform Hawaii's tax laws.  (HB1319 HD1)

·         By Web: Testimony may be submitted online if less than 4MB in size, at http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/emailtestimony.

 

·         In person:  1 copy of their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 215, State Capitol.

 

·         By fax:  Testimony may be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing, please indicate to which committee the testimony is being submitted and the date and time of the hearing.

 

Please note:  If you submit your written testimony after 4:00 p.m. the day prior to the hearing, please sign-in at the staff table to testify orally.  A copy of your testimony may not be available during the hearing but will be posted online for the public after the hearing.
