RELATING TO EMPLOYMENT RELATIONS. Prohibits employers from discriminating against an employee or applicant for employment based upon the employee's or the applicant's domestic abuse victim status; provided that the domestic abuse victim notifies the employer of such status. Requires an employer to make reasonable accommodations for an employee who is a victim of domestic abuse; provided that it does not cause undue hardship to the operations of the employer. Effective July 1, 2050. (SB229 HD1)

RELATING TO TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDERS. Establishes a temporary task force to establish a process to issue temporary restraining orders by the family and district courts upon submission of sworn oral testimony or complaint communicated to the court by means of electronic voice communication. Allows the Judiciary to establish a program to assist persons seeking temporary restraining orders and protective orders. Effective July 1, 2050. (SB1054 HD1)

RELATING TO NONPROFIT CORPORATIONS. Amends the Hawaii nonprofit corporations act to permit member actions by ballot and electronic voting, use of electronic notice, and conduct of meeting by teleconference. (SD1)

RELATING TO SERVICE ANIMALS. Amends certain laws regarding the use of service animals in statutes relating to dog licensing, public conveyances, and discriminatory practices in real estate transactions to address issues with obsolescence and inconsistency with the ADA and FHA. (SB892 HD1)

The following measure was heard on Thursday, March 24th at 2:00 PM. No public testimony will be accepted.
RELATING TO FIREWORKS. Amends provisions of the fireworks code, imposing new definitions and permitting, importation, labeling, and inspection requirements. Authorizes the fire chief to revoke or suspend permits for enumerated reasons. Exempts the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism from the 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. time restriction for the purpose of overnight filming of pyrotechnics to benefit Hawaii's film and television industries.
