RELATING TO THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM.

Increases the members on the Employees' Retirement System (ERS) board of trustees from eight to ten.  Establishes county representation on the ERS board of directors.  Provides that the counties shall be responsible for all necessary expenses incurred in the performance of the county member's duties.  Effective on July 1, 2030.  (HB174 HD1)

RELATING TO THE EMPLOYER-UNION HEALTH BENEFITS TRUST FUND.

Requires one member of the Employer-Union Health Benefits Trust Fund board of trustees to be appointed by agreement of the mayors of the four counties and approved by the Hawaii State Association of Counties.  Authorizes the governor to fill the vacancy should it not be filled within sixty days.  Effective July 1, 2030.  (HB175 HD2)

RELATING TO FEDERAL TAX QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM.

Adopts language, regarding death benefits for Employees' Retirement System member on qualified military service, required to maintain the tax-qualified status of the Employees' Retirement System and adopts provisions, for the commencement of benefits, required to maintain the tax qualified status of the Employees' Retirement System. (HB1036 HD1)

·         By Web: Testimony may be submitted online if less than 4MB in size, at http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/emailtestimony.

 

·         In person:  1 copy of their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 002, State Capitol.

 

·         By fax:  Testimony may be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing, please indicate to which committee the testimony is being submitted and the date and time of the hearing.

 

Please note:  If you submit your written testimony after 10:00 a.m. the day prior to the hearing, please sign-in at the staff table to testify orally.  A copy of your testimony may not be available during the hearing but will be posted online for the public after the hearing. 

 

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign or foreign language interpreter or wheelchair accessibility), please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior to the hearing so arrangements can be made.
