Status

RELATING TO PHYSICIAN WORKFORCE ASSESSMENT.

Extends the Physician Workforce Assessment Fee to July 1, 2015.  Requires a portion of the assessment fees to be deposited into the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) Special Fund to support health care reform, the medical home model, and physician reimbursements.  Requires JABSOM to prepare an annual report regarding physician workforce.  Effective July 1, 2050.

Status

RELATING TO BUILDING DESIGN FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES.

Establishes an accessible building design special account, within the Disability and Communication Access Board (Board) Special Fund, for fees to be deposited and expended.  Allows the Board to charge a fee to defray expenses of reviewing construction plans to ensure compliance with law.  Establishes fees for the review of buildings and facilities, until the Board adopts rules.  Effective July 1, 2040.

RELATING TO PHARMACY BENEFIT MANAGEMENT COMPANIES.

Creates a task force to make recommendations to regulate the licensing of pharmacy benefit management companies by ensuring financial reliability and mandating full disclosure of drug costs and financial contracts.

Status

RELATING TO HEALTH INSURANCE.

Provides uniform standards for external review procedures based on the National Association of Insurance Commissioners Uniform Health Carrier External Review Model Act, to comply with the requirements of the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010.  Effective July 1, 2011.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

·     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·     The Committee the comments are directed to;

·     The date and time of the hearing;

·     Measure number; and

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns.  This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
