Status

RELATING TO EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES.

Makes it unlawful for any employer or labor organization with more than one hundred employees and a collective bargaining agreement to bar or discharge from employment, withhold pay from, or demote an employee solely because the employee uses accrued and available sick leave, except if the employee is unable to fulfill the essential job functions or requirements of the employee's position.  Reinforces that the employer must still comply with all federal, state, and local laws protecting employees.  Effective July 1, 2011.

Status

RELATING TO UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE BENEFITS.

Repeals the June 30, 2012, sunset date of provisions related to partial unemployment benefits.  Removes the eight-week limitation on partial unemployment benefit status.  Makes mandatory, rather than discretionary, the waiver of registration and work search requirements for individuals who are partially unemployed.  Establishes conditions for which an individual who has established eligibility based on full-time employment may be found to have good cause for voluntarily separating from subsequent part-time employment.  Effective July 1, 2011.

RELATING TO DISLOCATED WORKERS.

Authorizes the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations to exercise enforcement powers against an employer in a covered establishment.  Effective July 1, 2011.

Status

RELATING TO THE DEFINITION OF COMPENSATION FOR PURPOSES OF THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM.

Establishes provisions for compensation to an employee or officer for Employees' Retirement System service after June 30, 2011.  Effective July 1, 2050.

RELATING TO THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM.

Makes various revisions to the employees' retirement system. Effective July 1, 2011.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

 

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing with a transmittal cover indicating:

·     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·     The Committee the comments are directed to;

·     The date and time of the hearing;

·     Measure number; and

·     The number of copies the Committee is requesting. 

 

While every effort will be made to copy, organize, and collate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed to the incorrect office, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns.  This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
