RELATING TO HAWAII HEALTH CORPS. Establishes the Hawaii health corps program to provide loan repayments on behalf of eligible physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners in any county having a shortage of physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, with priority given to in rural areas. Provides for loan repayments by the University of Hawaii John A. Burns school of medicine. Makes appropriations to support accreditation efforts and support and expand residency programs, particularly in family medicine.

RELATING TO THE HAWAII TOBACCO SETTLEMENT SPECIAL FUND. Extends the appropriation of a portion of Hawaii tobacco settlement special fund moneys for annual operating expenses of JABSOM until June 30, 2015, and adds annual reporting requirements.

RELATING TO PHYSICIAN WORKFORCE ASSESSMENT. Makes permanent the physician workforce assessment fee and requires that a portion of the assessment fees deposited into the John A. Burns school of medicine special fund be used to support physician workforce assessment and planning for rural and medically underserved areas of the State.

RELATING TO HEALTH. Specifies additional elements of Hawaii's existing sexuality health education law and its implementation. Requires the department of education (DOE) to provide certain types of information to the public and to parents. Allows parents to opt out of the DOE's sexuality health education.

· By fax: Testimony may be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. When faxing, please indicate to which committee the testimony is being submitted and the date and time of the hearing.
Please note: If you submit your written testimony after 4:00 p.m. the day prior to the hearing, please sign-in at the staff table to testify orally. A copy of your testimony may not be available during the hearing but will be posted online for the public after the hearing.
