Establishes a funding formula for charter school facilities.

Authorizes schools to purchase fresh local produce under the school meals program and to grow food in school gardens for consumption in the school lunch program.

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Requires multi track public schools to meet at least 171 days or 90 per cent of the minimum number of days required of other non-charter public schools for each respective school year, whichever number is greater, and at least 90 per cent of the minimum number of student instructional hours required of other non-charter public schools for each respective school year.  Requires DOE to submit to the legislature a plan to implement a school year for multi track schools beginning with the 2015-2016 school year of no less than 90 per cent of the minimum number of instructional days and hours required of other public schools.

Establishes implementing legislation for the appointment of board of education members.  Establishes considerations for the senate during the advise and consent process.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

·     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·     The Committee the comments are directed to;

·     The date and time of the hearing;

·     Measure number; and

·     The number of copies the Committee is requesting. 

 

While every effort will be made to copy, organize, and collate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed to the incorrect office, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns.  This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
