RELATING TO HAWAII-GROWN PRODUCE. Establishes the farm-to-school program in the department of education to increase the procurement of locally-grown fruits and vegetables. Establishes the Hawaii-grown fresh fruit and vegetable program to increase schoolchildren's access to Hawaii produce. Establishes the farmers to food banks pilot program.

RELATING TO AGRICULTURE. Establishes a program for state matching funds for expenses incurred by the counties in supporting agriculture. Makes an appropriation to the department of agriculture.

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE. Appropriates funds to the department of agriculture to: acquire a slaughterhouse within the Campbell Industrial Park on the island of Oahu; to fund necessary construction, renovation, and improvement projects; and to purchase equipment for the slaughterhouse.

RELATING TO AGRICULTURE. Provides a grant pursuant to chapter 42F, HRS, to the 4Ag Hawaii nonprofit corporation to expand its outreach and e-educational initiatives begun in 2010.

RELATING TO LIVESTOCK. Provides a grant pursuant to chapter 42F, HRS, to the Hawaii Livestock Cooperative to enable the cooperative's slaughter facility to stabilize their operations.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW
Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing with a transmittal cover indicating:
· Testifier's name with position/title and organization;
· The Committee the comments are directed to;
· The date and time of the hearing;
· Measure number; and
· The number of copies the Committee is requesting.
While every effort will be made to copy, organize, and collate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed to the incorrect office, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns. This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
