SENATE RESOLUTION
urging the Governor to allocate funds and work with reputable companies to provide transitional housing and social services FOR HOMELESS PERSONS on Oahu's north shore.
WHEREAS, there are a number of homeless individuals and families on Oahu's north shore, including in the town of Wahiawa; and
WHEREAS, because these people face many obstacles and challenges in their efforts to find housing, remedies must be tailored to their various needs and there should be a continuum of housing and services made available; and
WHEREAS, the north shore lacks an adequate supply of transitional housing where homeless people can stay and receive support while transitioning into permanent housing; and
WHEREAS, homeless support services, such as classes on life skills and financial literacy, are also in low supply in areas throughout the north shore of Oahu; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Twenty-sixth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2011, that the Governor is urged to allocate funds and work with reputable companies to provide transitional housing and social services on Oahu's north shore; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the Governor.
