HOUSE RESOLUTION
requesting the united states postal service to issue a commemorative postage stamp honoring musician and entertainer, don ho.
WHEREAS, Donald Tai Loy Ho, known to most of his many fans and admirers as Don Ho, was born on August 13, 1930, in Kakaako, on the island of Oahu, of Hawaiian, Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch, and German heritage; and
WHEREAS, Don Ho entertained generations of people in Hawaii and on the mainland alike with his live musical shows, and on television shows such as "The Don Ho Show," "The Brady Bunch," "Batman," and "Charlie's Angels," until his death in 2007; and
WHEREAS, Don Ho's live musical show "The Don Ho Show," now known as "The Ohana Ho Show," allowed and continues to allow young, promising musicians and artists the opportunity to perform and enhance their musical talents, earning Don Ho the reputation as the musical ambassador of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, Don Ho made history by becoming one of the most famous entertainers from Hawaii, with his love and talent for music and humor; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-sixth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2011, that the United States Postmaster General is requested to issue a Don Ho commemorative stamp; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Citizens' Stamp
Advisory Committee is requested to recommend to the United States Postmaster
General that a Don Ho commemorative stamp be issued; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution be
transmitted to the President of the United States, the members of Hawaii's
congressional delegation, the United States Postmaster General, and the Governor.
