HOUSE RESOLUTION
REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTING AND GENERAL SERVICES TO IDENTIFY AND PRIORITIZE REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE PROJECTS FOR ALL STATE BUILDINGS based on health and safety needs.
WHEREAS, the Department of Accounting and General Services oversees the planning, coordination, and organization of building maintenance, and controls a variety of engineering and architectural services for the State; and
WHEREAS, these services include land acquisition, planning, designing, inspecting, and managing construction projects, facilitating quality control, contracting, and equipping facilities and other improvements for State agencies; and
WHEREAS, every year the Legislature proposes capital improvement projects to address the critical needs of state facilities; and
WHEREAS, prioritizing projects by health and safety needs will give the Legislature the opportunity to ensure that funds will be allocated to the facilities with the greatest need; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-sixth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2011, that the Department of Accounting and General Services is requested to identify and prioritize repair and maintenance projects for all state buildings based on health and safety needs; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of
Accounting and General Services is requested to report its findings and
recommendations to the Legislature no later than 60 days prior to the convening
of the Regular Session of 2012; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Resolution be
transmitted to the Comptroller.
