HOUSE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
Requesting the japanese consul general in honolulu to address the legislature assembled in joint session.
WHEREAS, on March 11, 2011, an unprecedented 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck off the eastern coast of Japan and triggered tsunami waves that reached over 20 feet high; and
WHEREAS, the resulting devastation has been widespread and profound, impacting the lives of those across Japan, as well as their friends and family members around the world; and
WHEREAS, the people of Hawaii and Japan have deep and cordial ties that stretch across the Pacific to reinforce friendship and support, especially during such difficult times; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-sixth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2011, the Senate concurring, that the two Houses of the Legislature assemble in Joint Session in the Chambers of the House of Representatives at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, for the purpose of receiving such address and update on the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake from the Japanese Consul General in Honolulu as he should be pleased to make; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a duly certified copy of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Honorable Yoshihiko Kamo, Consul General of Japan in Honolulu.
