A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE THIRTEENTH REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The thirteenth representative district encompasses the area of East Maui, including Paia, Kuau, Haiku, Honopou, Kailua, Huelo, Keanae, Wailua, Hana, Kipahulu, and Kaupo and the islands of Lanai, Kahoolawe, Molokini, and Molokai, including Kalaupapa. This is the only and last "canoe" district or disconnected legislative district. Thus, each island area has vastly different capital improvement project needs.
The purpose of this Act is to appropriate funds for capital improvement projects for the thirteenth representative district.
SECTION 2. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2011-2012.
1. To be expended by the University of Hawaii:
A. Maui community college, Molokai campus, Molokai
Expansion of the Molokai education center.

2. To be expended by the department of education:
A. Kaunakakai elementary school, Molokai
New classroom buildings; central air conditioning for classrooms and cafeteria.

B. Kaupakalua roping and youth club, Maui
Construction of certified kitchen, roof repair and replacement, and maintenance of Kaupakalua arena.

C. Hui Aloha church, Maui
Roof repair and replacement, window replacement, and maintenance.

SECTION 3. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 2 shall be expended by the designated expending agencies for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2011.
