HOUSE RESOLUTION
commending and congratulating Radford High School for outstanding achievement in robotics.
WHEREAS, Team RAMBOT X showcased the talent of Radford High School and the State of Hawaii by competing against a vast array of talented robotics teams from California, Nevada, Hawaii and China; and
WHEREAS, Team RAMBOT X was named the VEX Robotics Competition Tournament Champions 2010-2011 at the VEX Imiloa Robotics Festival in Hilo, Hawaii on November 20, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Team RAMBOT X was named VEX Robotics Competition Tournament Finalists 2010-2011 at the Pan Pacific VEX Robotics Competition at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu, Hawaii on December 4, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Team RAMBOT X earned the honor of representing the State of Hawaii at the VEX Robotics World Championships held at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida in April of 2011; and
WHEREAS, due to the outstanding talents of team members: Jewel Montgomery, John Lohr, Quetin Harris, Emily Ulmer, and Cody Schlosser, Team RAMBOT X proved through hard work, determination, and dedication that they can achieve excellence as a team and as individuals; and
WHEREAS, VEX Robotics Competition is a unique and challenging team-based activity to build the most innovative robots possible and earn the most points possible all while learning many academic and life skills; and
WHEREAS, Team RAMBOT X embodies the importance of promoting robotics at an early age and sustaining students' interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education; and
WHEREAS, Team RAMBOT X illustrates the importance of the progression of science and technology here in Hawaii and the United States; and
WHEREAS, Radford High School and Team RAMBOT X has worked hard to advance STEM in Hawaii not only to the students of Hawaii but also to the community; and
WHEREAS, Radford High School and Team RAMBOT X demonstrates a commitment to robotics by hosting robotics workshops and demonstrations on campus as well as in the community; and
WHEREAS, Team RAMBOT X has done a service not only to fellow students at Radford High School but also to the outlying community by their extraordinary application of STEM in the field of robotics in the VEX division championships and in the upcoming VEX Robotics World Championship; and
WHEREAS, this continued commitment by Radford High School and its students, including the achievements by Team RAMBOT X, will pave the way for sustainable interest by Hawaii’s students in STEM and robotics for years to come; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-sixth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2011, that this body hereby commends and congratulates Team RAMBOT X of Radford High School for outstanding achievement in robotics and representation of the State of Hawaii at the 2011 VEX Robotics World Championship in Orlando, Florida.
