RELATING TO TRAFFIC ABSTRACT FEE.

Increases the fee for a traffic abstract from $7 to $10 and increases the amount of the fee deposited into the general fund from $5 to $8.

RELATING TO THE INTERMEDIATE APPELLATE COURT.

Permanently establishes intermediate appellate court judges' express authority to subpoena witnesses, compel the production of evidence, and administer oaths.

Permanently establishes the jurisdictional responsibilities of the appellate courts.

RELATING TO THE DNA ANALYSIS FEE.

Extends DNA analysis fee requirement to defendants with deferred pleas and to felony offenders transferring into Hawaii under an interstate compact.

Status

RELATING TO CAMPAIGN FINANCING.

Updates, organizes, and clarifies current campaign financing laws.

HB 2004

Status

RELATING TO CAMPAIGN FINANCING.

Amends law relating to ballot issue committees.  Defines automated phone call and requires certain information to be stated at the beginning of such phone calls.  Amends the definition of advertisement.  Repeals the campaign spending commission's authority to adopt a code of fair campaign practices as part of its rules.  Requires advertising notices and disclaimers to be included on every web page that contains an advertisement.

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing with a transmittal cover indicating:

·     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·     The Committee the comments are directed to;

·     The date and time of the hearing;

·     Measure number; and

·     The number of copies the Committee is requesting. 

 

While every effort will be made to copy, organize, and collate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed to the incorrect office, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

WEB:     For comments less than 4MB in size, transmit from the Web page at http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/emailtestimony.

 

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns.  This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
