The Joint Legislative Committee on Aging in Place will meet to approve the JLCAIP’s report to the 2010 Legislature. The draft report will be available on the web by January 11, 2010 at: http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/site1/studies/commjlcaip.asp. The report will include the status and recommendations on the following items:

1.  Kupuna Care and the Preservation of the Safety Net

2.            Aging and Disability Resource Center

3.  Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

4.  Home for Life Task Force

5.  Home Care Concierge Service

6.  Fall Prevention

7.  Home Care Agency Licensure

8. University of Hawaii Center on Aging

9.  Long Term Care Commission

The purpose of the Joint Legislative Committee on Aging in Place, as stated in Act 285 (2006), is to develop a comprehensive public policy program to strengthen support for family caregivers who provide unpaid, informal assistance to persons sixty and older with physical or cognitive disabilities and grandparents raising grandchildren.

No testimony will be accepted at the meeting. However, persons who wish to submit comments on the draft report may send a fax to 586-6251 or email to bolan@capitol.hawaii.gov no later than 12:00 noon on January 19, 2010. If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services to participate in the meeting (i.e. sign language interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for the disabled) please contact the committee clerk at 586-6250 at least 24 hours prior to the meeting so arrangements can be made.
