The purpose of this informational briefing is to address concerns about the Department of Human Services’ (DHS) recent actions to eliminate 228 DHS employees from the Benefit, Employment and Support Services Division (BESSD), Med-Quest Division (MQD), and other functions of the department without meaningful consultation with the affected employees and/or their union representatives. This informational briefing will also discuss the essential services for the vulnerable population of Hawaii and the potential costs and/or savings associated with both implementing and not implementing the proposed EPOD plan. Lastly, all viable solutions to address the impact that these changes may have on the State of Hawaii will be evaluated.
The following have been invited to participate:
The Executive Director and/or Deputy Executive Director of HGEA and/or their designee; and
All former and current employees of the Department of Human Services (DHS); and
