The purpose of this joint informational briefing is to inform legislators about peer mentoring for persons with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).  The Committees will receive and review information and initiatives being undertaken by providers to address this issue, as well as learn about the program model STRIDE, which provides mentoring to those with TBI.

 

The following organizations have been invited to participate in this briefing:

 

1.  Department of Human Services

2.  Hawaii STRIDE Mentoring Program (Pacific Basin Rehabilitation Research and Training Center)

3.  Ho'oikaika Peer Mentoring Project (for persons with traumatic brain injury)

4.  Participants & family members of the STRIDE and/or the Ho'oikaika program

5.  Other human services providers and participants related to this, or similar, programs that are covered by DHS

 

The informational briefing will be based on the outline below;
