The purpose of this informational briefing is to support the 2010 U.S. Census and increase awareness of the federal funding to the State of Hawaii that may be gained by participation in this year's U.S. Census. The U.S. government provides $400 billion to the states based on the information each state provides on their census. The timing and cost-savings of participating in the U.S. Census will be discussed, as well. Also, this informational briefing will address the claims of fraudulent U.S. Census forms and any form of exploitation that may arise from them.
Lastly, this informational briefing will discuss the substantial funding that may be given to the Department of Human Services (DHS) and its programs based upon the participation of Hawaii residents.
There will also be a short presentation by a representative from the U.S. Census Bureau, followed by a Q&A session.
