RELATING TO INSURANCE.

Requires health insurers and like entities to offer at least the same drug coverage to the insured that the insured had under the insured's previous policy with a different insurer or like entity.

RELATING TO PRACTICE OF PHARMACY.

Amends the definition of "practice of pharmacy" by changing the age of persons to whom immunizations are administered from 18 to nine years of age with parental consent.

RELATING TO HEALTH INSURANCE.

Requires health insurers to: (1) report annually on how health insurance premiums are being spent; and (2) spend a minimum amount of the premiums on medical expenses.

Provides a tax credit for emergency room physicians who work a minimum of 576 on-call hours in a state-approved emergency room.

Assesses a surcharge tax on all soft drinks sold in the State.

RELATING TO BUILDING DESIGN FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES.

Allows the disability and communication access board to charge a fee to defray expenses of review of construction plans to ensure compliance with law.  Establishes temporary fees until the board adopts permanent fees.

RELATING TO VIOLENCE AGAINST HEALTH CARE PERSONNEL.

Extends protection from assault and terroristic threatening to emergency room personnel.

RELATING TO PHARMACIST LICENSURE.

Broadens the practical experience requirements for a pharmacist license to include experience obtained in U.S. territories and the District of Columbia.  Removes the requirement that supervision must take place in a pharmacy.  Broadens the experience requirements to relate to the practice of pharmacy.

RELATING TO LIMITED BENEFIT HEALTH INSURANCE.

Excludes limited benefit health insurance from provisions of chapter 431:10A enacted after July 1, 2010.

RELATING TO INSURANCE.

Requires health insurers to promptly pay claims for services to medicaid recipients, by repealing the exemption for medicaid claims from the clean claims law.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns.  This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
